The American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) is a nonprofit association dedicated to promoting the sport of snowboarding through instruction. The association develops certification standards for snowboard instructors and education materials to be used as the core components of most snowboard training. AASI is an education partner with, and program of, the Professional Ski Instructors of America.
AASI supports snow sport area management by providing a reliable source for training and certification. The new association will concentrate its efforts on moving the science of snowboard education to a new level by developing programs and materials that cover a broad range of snowboarding disciplines.
AASI’s mission is to provide you, as an AASI member, the tools necessary to create the maximum demand for your services within the snowboard industry. As a partner with the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA), the AASI mission works in concert with the mission of PSIA — to enable its members and partners to increase their versatility, effectiveness, value, and professional advancement through:
- broad-based information and educational materials and programs;
- continuous training that anticipates and responds to industry demands in a timely manner;
- cross-training that develops flexibility in relationship to disciplines, populations, and seasons;
- strategic partnerships with key alliances; and,
- promotion, awareness, and understanding of the value of its members.
PSIA’s mission is reflected in a broader vision of snowboarding and mountain sports–PSIA Vision 2001: "As international leaders in mountain sports and recreation, we inspire a great love and appreciation for–and life-long commitment to–the mountain experience."
