Who should join AASI?  Back To Top

Anyone who is interested in teaching snowboarding and in enhancing his or her professional development.

How will snowboarders and snowboard instructors benefit from the creation of AASI?  Back To Top

AASI an education association that is committed to snowboard teaching. To the member, this means access to an unequaled resource for education programs and the pride of being affiliated with an institution that generates and disseminates cutting-edge information that deals with snowboard instruction.

How does AASI help the sport of snowboarding as it relates to manufacturers, area management, and the consumer?  Back To Top

Manufacturers benefit from the excitement and expertise that AASI members will bring to a snowboard lesson as riders are introduced to changes in equipment. Manufacturers also benefit by having a larger pool of trained instructors from which to draw for expertise.

AASI supports snow sport area management by providing a reliable source for training and certification. The association concentrates its efforts on moving the science of snowboard education to a new level by developing programs and materials that cover a broad range of snowboarding disciplines.

More significant is the positive impact AASI has on the snowboarding public. By taking a snowboarding lesson with the most qualified, most motivated instructor possible, consumers will receive a greater level of enjoyment, a stronger sense of accomplishment, and a greater return on their recreational dollar.

What are Pro-Forms?  Back To Top

Pro Form is the generic term for a voucher, published by a manufacturer, offering sectors of the ski industry discount prices as a professional courtesy and for promotional purposes. Individual manufacturers determine who is eligible to receive or use a pro-form. AASI does not determine who is eligible to receive a form or what form a discount should take. Typically, forms are restricted by manufacturers to active members. Members not receiving a form or who might be interested in a discount should try to work with their local retailer, contact the regional rep, or the manufacturer. AASI does not distribute lists of area representatives or of manufacturers for purposes of obtaining pro-form information.

AASI does not issue pro-forms. One of the many ways members receive pro-forms from manufacturers is via direct mail using the AASI mailing list. Not all manufacturers mail forms. Even when manufacturers do mail forms, you might not receive one if:

  • Dues are received late;
  • AASI didn't receive dues from your division or member in time for the manufacturer to receive their name on the list;
  • You were excluded at random or on purpose by the manufacturer; or
  • You were inadvertently dropped from bulk mailing by the U.S. Postal Service.

Pro-forms are a privilege offered by manufacturers, and not an inherent benefit of membership. AASI works with manufacturers to try and maintain good will and encourage pro-form benefits. However, the ultimate responsibility for the health and well-being of this system is dependent on the conduct of members.
