Scott Anfang
AASI Snowboard Team
Born in California, raised in Minnesota, Scott Anfang first tried snowboarding at the Town and Country Golf Course in 1988. Later, Scott logged hours in detention for skipping classes to feed his addiction to snowboarding -- but detention did little to quench his riding obsession. Soon Scott was skipping detention with other detainees and ripping the cold, icy slopes of Afton Alps.
Since the glory days of on the golf course, Scott's snowboard has taken him around the world. He now calls Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Queenstown, New Zealand home.
In Colorado, Scott was instrumental in developing the freestyle accreditation program in the Rocky Mountain division of AASI where he is also a certification examiner. In New Zealand, Scott helped found the Instructor Training Company, an 11 week program for people who want to become snowboard instructors.
When is Steamboat, Scott swaps tales with 75-year-old Snurfer Pioneer Sherman Poppen who tries to match his number of years to his number of days on snow each season.
Despite living the endless winter, Scott envisions a warm and sunny term on the AASI National Team. "As a team member I want to encourage people to develop skills, enhance relationships, and have fun along the way!"
