Spike Eisenman
AASI Snowboard Team
Whisked off to Europe shortly after his birth near the gushing waters of Niagara Falls, New York, Spike was raised on an Airforce base in Germany. After spending his childhood snaking lift lines and whipping helicopters on skis under the soaring peaks of the Alps, Spike moved back to the United States where he first tried snowboarding at New Hampshire's Gunstock Ski Area. At Gunstock, the ability to turn was required for snowboarders to ride the lift. After Spike learned to turn, he helped others to get the hang of it, informally beginning his snowboard instruction career.
On that first day of riding, Spike caught the snowboarding bug. Forced to support his new obsession, Spike traveled the globe working as a disc jockey for Club Med and had an occasional gig at the local grocery store working as a shopping cart repair technician. In order to spend more time snowboarding, Spike dropped out of college in Vermont, promising his mother he would return to school when he "got the snowboarding bug to out of his system." Apparently, the bug is still there.
Friends consider Spike outgoing, fun to be around, and the most knowledgeable powder stash guide in Beaver Creek, where he works as the product manager for snowboarding.
One of AASI-Rocky Mountain's top certification trainers and examiners, Spike is instrumental in promoting snowboard education and helping regional members to achieve their certification goals.
Spikes vision for the future of AASI is to "maintain and grow the image we have as an organization and to make written material more visually oriented and snowboard centered."
